Guernsey County Republican Club Monthly Minutes
7:04 PM – President Robert Morris called the meeting to order. Vice President Sheila Cochran delivered the invocation and President Morris led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. President Morris welcomed the guests that were visiting the club. President Morris read a letter of resignation from Treasurer Nelson Roe. He expressed remorse for not being able to complete his term and wished us the best.
President Morris, acting as a temporary treasurer for the club, updated the group on the current finances of the general account and the scholarship fund.
Secretary Michael Segrest, having made the minutes available prior to the meeting, presented them for approval. The motion passed unanimously at 7:09 PM.
President Morris then invited any elected officials that were present to speak:
City Auditor Suellen Johnson stated that she had just finished the audit and it went well. She asked that we also excuse Mayor Tom Orr, who was at the public informational hearing on the new Guernsey County Power Station.
Board of elections Director Sandra Miller informed the club that filings for the November election had been completed and there are 116 candidates, 23 local issues, and 1 local option.
The guest speaker was Bill Yarbrough, Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Ohio. Mr. Yarbrough told his own story of how he arrived at a liberty oriented philosophy and what the mission of the Republican Liberty Caucus was, as well as some of the things that it has been up to in the state.
The meeting closed and adjourned at 8:01 PM.
